Community Building

Startup Grind

Startup Grind is the largest startup community, actively educating, inspiring, and connecting more than 5M entrepreneurs in over 600 cities around the world, so we launched a new chapter in Guayaquil to support founders and joined the SG DAO Accelerator to harness the power of web3 to ultimately help our portfolio companies succeed.

How to start a Startup Grind Chapter

Running a Startup Grind Chapter in your city is one of the most rewarding experiences you could have in your personal and professional career. It is of course not easy, but Startup Grind will equip you with the tools, resources, knowledge and support network to help you build a successful community. We believe in making friends, not contacts. We believe in giving first, not taking. We believe in helping others before helping yourself.

We strive to help founders, entrepreneurs, and startups succeed, regardless of geographic location or socioeconomic circumstance. We believe a better tomorrow is possible by supporting the innovators and risk-takers of today. 50% of our team are founders themselves, so we know from experience how difficult it can be. This is why we built a safe haven for emerging startups that share our belief that a better future is on the horizon — because we know it’s up to us to make it happen.

Launch of Startup Grind at its first in-person event.
"Startup Grind exists as a community to educate, connect and empower entrepreneurs. We believe the most powerful relationships are made through friendship, not a loose connection formed on the basis of business cards. We see the greatest wins in our community coming to those who help others with introductions, mentorship, and resources - rather than those who seek to help themselves. We follow a simple golden rule: give, rather than take. These values are at the core of every event, and in the mind of every great director. Without our values, we are just another networking event. With them, we can be cultural ambassadors of a more open, more connected entrepreneurial culture."

We host events every month for our local ecosystems, but our Global Conference in Silicon Valley happens once a year and hosts over 15,000 community members both live and online to learn about and explore the next wave of the web, bridging the gap between web2 and web3, building human-centric products, impacting diverse communities, raising funds and more.

Growth Hacking for a Global Community

Not all countries have a developed startup community or its own Silicon Valley, so it's up to us to help emerging startups succeed. By hosting events and designing engaging initiatives, we'll gather together amazing people to inspire, educate and connect with each other. As leaders of our chapter in Guayaquil, we have generated partnerships, dealt with sponsors, connected with future speakers and recruited founders for our Startup Program, as well as volunteers to grow our local impact. Through Influential Outreach and Community Building tactics we have partnered up with multiple key players of our ecosystem and executed services such as Graphic Design, Content Creation, Event Marketing and Social Media Campaigns to increase our attending list, develop new projects, and discover and support entrepreneurs throughout Ecuador.
